Residents of Abu Dhabi have shown positive response to the implantation of Phase II of the health insurance law

A large number of Abu Dhabi residents has recently joined National Health Insurance Company Daman.

In the past two months, more than 150,000 new members joined the company. Mean while, Daman will have more than 420,000 members by the end of this month, this makes it the largest health insurer in the GCC.

The Implementation of the second phase of the new health insurance law was very successful. The number of new members exceeded all expectations. This success led to customer service issues in headquarters and the branches, due to the rising load among the involved parties. The increasing difficulties were acknowledged, and Daman took the necessary steps to ensure that these issues were solved. Today we can safely say that the service level is back on track. Different resources were used to solve these issues such as opening new branches and expanding existing branches, as well as recruitment additional highly skilled staff to ensure our customer's satisfaction.

Commenting on today's announcement, Dr. Michael Bitzer, CEO of Daman, said: "We have been delighted by the positive response that residents have shown to the second phase of the health insurance law. We have seen large numbers of customers coming to us, which proves that people want to comply with the new law. We are continually monitoring all process in the head quarter as well as branches to ensure that all customer transactions are processed in the quickest and most proficient manner."

Dr. Bitzer continued: "Customer focus is one of our main objectives in Daman; therefore we are dedicating additional resources to ensure that we can provide all our customers with outstanding services that are coherent with Daman's vision."

Daman has also increased its staff to a total of more than 430 employees in less than a year, when it first started in May 2006 Daman employed initially of 150 employees.

Daman was the first specialized national health insurance company in the United Arab Emirates and has become the market leader in a record time. Staffed with highly experienced professionals and offering diverse products and personalized service, Daman uses the latest information systems that allow it to perform at international standards. Its proactive approach has contributed in improving the standards of the health insurance industry in the UAE.

Dr. Bitzer added: "The government of Abu Dhabi has provided tremendous support and guidance in the implementation phase of the new insurance scheme; Daman would like to thank all government entities, particularly the Immigration and Preventive Medicine Department, who have been very supportive to the emerging UAE health insurance industry."

To date, Daman has opened four branches located in Al Bateen, Al Ain, Madinat Zayed, and Mussafah to handle individual and small group applications, while the company headquarters on Hamdan Street handles larger groups consisting of 50 employees or more. In the branches, facilities include separate waiting areas for women and men, photocopying and hospitality services for customers, offering a more comfortable atmosphere. Daman branches are fully operational from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Sunday through Thursday.
