Dr. B.R. Shetty conferred the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award

The award was presented by His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai at a glittering ceremony. It recognises the pioneering initiatives of Neopharma, the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing arm of NMC Group.

Based on Business High Performance Model (BHP Model), the award evaluates and recognizes the performance of companies from both management and performance criteria. A company's strategic initiative, leadership perspectives, quality imperatives, corporate culture, corporate social responsibility, performance output, outcome and impact are appraised. The occasion brought dual recognition to Dr. Shetty in the form of a second award for NMC Trading - the Re-Export division of NMC Group.

Expressing his joy on being conferred the honour, Dr. B.R. Shetty said,

"This award will encourage me to innovate and further the goal of bringing the world's best pharmaceutical and healthcare facilities to the GCC and the UAE in particular. It is truly invigorating to receive this honour that gives me a sense of fulfilment."

Within a span of three years, Neopharma has developed more than 62 formulations. Time and again the firm has demonstrated its competitive advantage of introducing new products in quick succession and emerged as a leading pharmaceutical manufacturer with innovative and generic products. It also has key expansion plans in line with major forays into Biotechnology and Nanotechnology.

Neopharma's Dr. B.R. Shetty's Research Centre recently entered into a joint venture with leading biotechnology major, Biocon. This landmark agreement between the two companies heralded the region's first facility to develop life saving biotech and biopharmaceutical products. Dr. Shetty stated that Neopharma's foray into Biotech will influence a "fresh wave of new manufacturing technology". The company also has plans for backward integration with the production of patent products like Oral Insulin, Anti-obesity, Cardiac, Anti-cancer and Oncology products, which will be on par with the best multi-national standards. Neopharma is the first pharmaceutical company in the industrial category to receive the 'Best Manufacturer' award.

Dr. B.R. Shetty started his journey way back in 1973 and is today considered the pioneer in healthcare and the first to offer comprehensive medical services under a single roof. Numerous awards and accolades have been presented to him in recognition of his accomplishments and exemplary acts towards the development of the community. These include the Order of Abu Dhabi, which has been given in the memory of late Shaikh Zayed under the guidance and auspices of H. H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.

In conclusion, Dr. Shetty stated, "31 years of hard-work has been brought to fore with this award and I aim to work harder towards realising the vision of late His Highness Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan to provide quality healthcare for all."
