To address such concerns, Intertec Systems is holding a one day seminar in Dubai entitled, 'The Importance of Security in Business Institutions' on 28 October 2000. The seminar will highlight the need for businesses, financial and government institutions, multinationals as well as small and medium sized businesses to stay up to date with the latest technology to ensure the protection of their information.
The seminar will include key decisions makers and top level executives from the UAE and around the region to exchange knowledge, opinions and best practice solutions in the field of Information Security. Key speakers include Mark Dunn, Director Enterprise Risk Services, Deloitte & Touche; Tarek Houbballah, Systems Engineer, Cisco Systems; Lou Scotto, General Manager, Emirates Bank International and Chris Bester, Senior Security Consultant, ComGuard.
'In today's fast moving world, being one step ahead is of the utmost importance in business if you are to move forward and survive. We never really know how secure our IT infrastructure is until we experience a threat. Being abreast of that potential threat allows you to take control and effectively mitigate the risks to your organisation' says Naresh Kothari, Managing Director, Intertec Systems.
He added: 'In a PricewaterhouseCoopers & Arabian Computer News IT Security Survey (September 2002 - Network Middle East) conducted across 451 organisations in the Middle East, 53% had either no information security policies or only informal security policies in place. Only 36% measured information security effectiveness. The need for IT security has never been so great and business executives need to realise its critical importance as a central component of a company's risk management policy.'
With network security in mind, Intertec Systems has created SIPS (SecureIS Professional Service), a specialist consultancy division to identify, assess, control and mitigate the various risks and threats that could potentially affect IT infrastructure critical to business processes. SIPS also provides an effective mechanism to provide security updates that are critical to infrastructure.
Specialist speaker Mark Dunn, Director Enterprise Risk Services, Deloitte & Touche will be focusing on the topic of Information Security, why it has become an issue in the past few years and what leading companies are doing to implement effective solutions.
