UAE bird flu scare

The UAE's initial response to a possible bird flu outbreak was inadvertently tested out on Thursday when an Indonesian house maid was rushed to Dubai's Rashid Hospital Trauma Centre with flu-like symptoms after handling dead pigeons at her employer's house, reported Gulf News. The maid, who was kept in isolation at the hospital, was eventually found to have pneumonia, while the dead birds also tested negative for avian flu.
