The parade is being organized by the Education and Awareness Committee of Abu Dhabi Emirate, under the slogan: The UAE and the Environment: A sustained effort.

Through such a public display of support for environmental protection, the Committee aims to promote more environmental awareness as well as more cooperation between the different sectors and organizations working to protect the environment. With many different sectors joining together in the Parade, the Committee hopes to instill a sense of nationalistic pride in all participants.

Students from Abu Dhabi Rehabilitation Center and Dar Zayed for Comprehensive Welfare as well as secondary and high school students from various schools around the Emirate will walk side-by-side in the parade chanting for more environmental protection and for the protection of the UAE's precious natural resources. The students will be carrying posters and banners for passers-by to see.

Other participants in the parade will include staff of the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi, Ministry of Interior, Federal Environment Agency, Abu Dhabi Educational Zone, Abu Dhabi Municipality, Emirates Heritage Club, Environment Friends Society, Emirates Media, Emirates News Agency, UAE University, Zayed University, Higher Colleges of Technology, Family Development Association, Red Crescent Authority, various sports clubs as well as members from the private sector.

The participants will gather at 2 pm in the Family Garden on Abu Dhabi's Corniche and then begin at 4 pm to parade along the Corniche. The Parade will end at the Hiltonia Beach Club.

Celebrations will continue into the evening as a series of environmental activities will be held at the Emirates Heritage Club, including the official launch of a week-long environmental exhibition, environmental competitions and several art workshops for the public.

An award ceremony for the participants as well as a performance will be held on Tuesday March 13, 2007 at the National Theatre. The organizing partners alongside EAD include Abu Dhabi Educational Zone, Environment Friends Society, Emirates Heritage Club, Shell, National Bank of Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi Municipality, Ministry of Environment and Water and Federal Environment Agency.
