Swissness by the Das Hausquartett tone from April 1st to 7th, 2007
- United Arab Emirates: Saturday, March 03 - 2007 at 12:24
- PRESS RELEASE
Hosting its third consecutive Swiss Festival, the Moevenpick Hotel Bur Dubai is intending to capture "the taste of modern Swissness" this year.
Recently been described by a Swiss music critic as "a bridge across the ages - a link between the present modern Jazz and the old Jazz Standards", the quartet is playing classics from Bossa Nova Master, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Swings from Cole Porters or George Gershwin.
Bandleader Thomas Reist states: "Our quartet's only goal is to entertain people on the highest level of professional Jazz music. Having the chance to do so in a unique setting like Dubai, is presenting our young band with an excellent opportunity, to delight an international audience."
Their large repertoire of Jazz standard and their ability to mesmerize an audience is what the four students of the Luzerne Conservatory of Music are successful at and known for. They are all to graduate this summer and will pursue professional careers in music. Bandleader Thomas Reist and Pianist Hannes Buergi have played on various Jazz festivals such as the Prague International Jazz Festival, The Bulgaria Jazz Festival and the Bern International Jazz Festival. Their commitment to succeed is proof that the "Hausquartett" will always stand for Jazz at a high standard.
Being asked to describe Swiss values, the quartet is proud to name a very rich culture - not only in relation to the four official languages of Switzerland, but also referring to its multi-colored and varied music scene.
It is the bands first assignment in Dubai and they are excited to bring modern, Swiss Jazz Music to the guests of the festival.
"Das Hausquartett" started to officially perform in spring 2006, however three of the band members have played together in a local big band for 7 years.
"Das Hausquartett" are: Thomas Reist - Drums, Taja Waibel - Vocals, Hannes Buergi - Piano and Christoph Utzinger - Bass.
Young and fresh Swiss Jazz Music by "Das Hausquartett" can be enjoyed at the "Catch the Taste of Modern Swissness" Festival at the Moevenpick Hotel Bur Dubai, from April 1st to 7th every night from 7:00pm until around 11:00pm.
