Al Khawaneej Roundabout to be completed in May

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is continuing to complete the new roundabout on Al Khawaneej road in the middle between Al Khawaneej roundabout and Mirdif bridge and is expected to be completed by next May.

This was stated by Eng Maitha Mohammad Bin Adai CEO of Traffic and road Agency who said that the establishment of the new roundabout goes with the RTA aims to achieve safety requirements and within its vision for safe and smooth transport for all. It also reflects the strategy of the RTA and the continued efforts of to conduct studies on the actual needs of the Emirate for roads based on the population and life in Dubai and to take necessary actions according to that.

She pointed out to the remarkable increase in number of accidents during the last period which led to big losses in life and properties which motivates the RTA take the initiative to close the U - Turns and reduce the speed to 80 km/hour on the street which extends from Al Rashidyah intersections as re- caution procedure to reduce the number of accidents and to safe life's and properties.

In his explanation of the project, Engineer Nabeel Mohammed Saleh, Director of Roads Department at the Traffic and Roads Agency, he said that the new roundabout consists of three lanes and links Al Khawaneej with the University City Road that reduces the road accidents, raise the security and safety levels and contributes to ease off the traffic move in Al Khawaneej.

He pointed out that the RTA is currently executing a detour equipped with traffic lights and signs to guide the road users taking into consideration the flow of the traffic move and avoid causing any probable traffic obstacles when the building of the roundabout is in progress.
