An expected one million PS3 units will be made available during the initial launch period across the PAL territories of the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and Australasia.

Responding to regional retail and consumer demand, Sony Gulf confirmed that initially only the 60GB model will be available at launch so that consumers can receive the full PS3 experience straight out of the box.

Tim Stokes, Sales & Marketing Director, PlayStation Division - Sony Gulf commented:
'Following the hugely successful launches in Japan and North America, we are delighted to be bringing PLAYSTATION 3 to the Middle East region on March 22nd. There has been huge demand for and critical acclaim of the system and for Middle East consumers, we can guarantee the wait will have been worthwhile.'

UAE consumers will be able to register for the launch promotion, whereby the purchasers of PLAYSTATION 3 who register on the PLAYSTATION®Network will receive a Blu-ray disc movie of Casino Royale free of charge, starring James Bond newcomer Daniel Craig. Casino Royale has already grossed more than $560 million (US) at the box office worldwide, and has established itself as the most successful Bond film of all time. The movie will showcase the exceptional video quality of Full 1080P High definition movies on Blu-ray discs.

Stokes added: 'The PLAYSTATION®Network is a great reward for PLAYSTATION 3 owners. It is a user-friendly service that provides gamers with the opportunity to go online and play against other gamers world-wide as well as download additional gaming content from the PLAYSTATION®Store (PS Store).'

Sony Gulf also announced a stellar launch line-up of over 30 game titles for PS3, including eagerly awaited titles published by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) such as Resistance: Fall of Man™, MotorStorm™, Genji™: Days of the Blade, FORMULA ONE CHAMPIONSHIP EDITION and Ridge Racer™ 7. An exceptional range of titles in every genre will also be available at launch from the world's leading third party publishers, including Electronic Arts, Activision, Namco Bandai, Sega, Take 2, Ubisoft, Vivendi Universal, and Sony Online Entertainment.

Concurrent with the UAE launch, a new system update to further enhance the entertainment potential of PS3 will be issued.
