Air and land networks to support ARAMEX Perishables services across the region

Hussein Hachem announced that the company aims at building a hub that will provide total solutions and facilitate the movement of perishables to and from the UAE, the region and eventually Far East and Europe.

With the explosive growth in global trade of flowers and perishables, there is an increasing demand for innovative logistics and commercial solutions to enable the industry to reduce transit times, improve the quality and grow profits. ARAMEX will operate an extensive air and land cool chain network covering the GCC by land through the Dubai Hub which will receive by air the flowers from key markets such as Africa, Latin America, Europe, Holland.

Hachem said

"ARAMEX operates one of the most extensive land freight networks in the Middle East region linking major cities in the Gulf and the Levant and providing total transportation solutions to a variety of business sectors. Over the years, we have grown an incredible insight into these markets enabling us to create innovative solutions such as the Perishables."

"The new cool chain will replace the existing air and land model that covers each destination separately. The first stage is to establish the Handling Hub in Dubai which will see perishables from various international origins delivered to diverse destinations regionally first then globally."

The process starts at the Dubai Hub and includes storing in temperature controlled cold store, cutting, wrapping, hydrating, pest control, bundling, branding, pricing, tagging, tracking system, inventory management, on line orders and any other tailored services that the customer will require.

The expert team will then ship the flowers by land in special buckets filled with water, and deliver them fresh and ready for exhibition on the shelves to the various destinations across the GCC.

The cool chain trucking will operate daily trips throughout the UAE and the region. This highly specialized team will manage the various stages of the transport and delivery process through the GPS devices that are placed in each of the vehicles that form the large fleet of refrigerated trucks.

The customers will not only receive the flowers looking and feeling fresh, they will also be able to track their shipment during all stages through an online portal which was designed for this specific task. Upon delivery of the flowers, a proof of delivery is transmitted to the system automatically through the handheld scanners carried by ARAMEX dispatchers.
