In a statement he made on this occasion, Mr. Mohammad Abdullah said: "The opening of a new branch in Sharjah International Airport Free zone comes at the instructions of His Highness Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Bin Sultan Al Qassimi, Crown Prince and Vice Ruler of Sharjah, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sharjah Islamic Bank, to achieve strategic expansion of SIB branch network and to provide the best services to the Bank's customers."
Added Mr. Abdullah:
"Sharjah Islamic Bank gives a special priority to Sharjah Free Zone because it is one of the important economic facilities in the UAE in general and in Sharjah in particular. The new branch will meet the increasing demand for banking services by the corporate sector registered at the Free Zone, as well as the employees at the free zone and the airport, in addition to providing banking services to people living in the neighboring residential areas. The branch will provide all banking services, such as opening accounts, murabaha, current and saving accounts, investments deposits, financing services, leasing services and others.
The branch will be managed by Mr. Amin Al Sahlawi, who enjoys extensive banking experience. He held several management positions at Sharjah Islamic Bank.
It is worth noting that the new SIB branch at the Free Zone is the second of its kind to be opened in the current year 2007. This comes in keeping with the bank's strategic plan announced earlier this year to open up to 21 branches by the year end. Announcements in this regard will be made in due time.
