Representatives of 15 countries took part in the conference held on February 26 and 27.
The GCAA delegation included Mohammed Abu Baker, Director, Aviation Security and Safety and Ousama Al Ameri, Head of Civil Aviation Security at the GCAA.
The UAE has been selected as one of the 15 countries that took part the high profile event, thanks to the advanced standards achieved by the country's aviation sector and to the reputation attained by the GCAA as a legislative and supervisory body applying ICAO regulations at all airports of the seven-emirate federation.
The working team at the conference discussed security measures in relation to quantities of liquids, gels and aerosols allowed onboard aircraft, and the application of these measures at international airports.
Since November 6, 2006, the European Union (EU) started the application of strict measures at all its airports, allowing passengers to carry liquids of not more than 100 ml per container, and that the total liquids, gels and aerosols carried by a passenger should not exceed one litre.
General Civil Aviation Authority takes part in ICAO meeting on aviation security
Security measures at international airports in countries that are members in the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) were the theme of a conference held in Montreal, Canada, recently in which the UAE was represented by the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).
