The World Economic Forum has opened media accreditation for the upcoming Arab World Competitiveness Roundtable, which will be held in Doha, Qatar, on 9-10 April 2007.
This exclusive event will be a unique opportunity for business leaders, top policy-makers and experts to debate the results of the Arab World Competitiveness Report, shape the policy measures leading to a better business environment and obtain a first-hand view of the sectors that will drive the future growth of Arab economies.
In addition to discussing the assessment of competitive performance provided by the r eport , The the following sectors focus areas across the region will be analysed in detail:

Transport and Logistics markets
Health and insurance

Travel and Tourism

Future Opportunities and Challenges in the GCC
"We have noticed that in the economies of the Arab world there has been a marked improvement in the ability of these economies to compete over the last few years. Obviously a lot of it may be driven by the fact that there is an enormous amount of liquidity as a result of high oil prices, nevertheless there is evidence to suggest that the investment is actually more sound, more focused on achieving sustainable results," said Sherif El Diwany , Director, Head of Middle East, World Economic Forum.
The Forum will take this opportunity in the Middle East to launch its new programme on Global Growth Companies. The programme is dedicated to supporting the next generation of businesses as they navigate through challenges on their way to becoming industry leaders of tomorrow.
