Jadaf Dubai organizes trip for the business partners to its new base

  • United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, March 07 - 2007 at 15:29
  • PRESS RELEASE

Jadaf Dubai, which is relocating its ship repair facilities to an expanded ultra-modern complex on the man-made Dubai Maritime City island, has started its campaign to relocate its business partners in earnest.

Following numerous queries regarding facilities such as workshops, warehouses and other industrial or commercial outlets at the new location, the marine services facilitator arranged a site visit for some 40 companies.

The conducted tour, organized by the Real Estate Department of Jadaf Dubai, included inspection of the ship lifting facilities, workshops, warehouses and the Industrial Zone in general.

The new complex is sprawled across an area of 106 hectares and will consist of three docks (as against two in the old facility on Dubai Creek), which will be equipped with the most advanced mobile cranes with a lifting capacity of 3,000 DWT.

Earlier this week, Jadaf Dubai announced that it had begun processing applications and executing lease contracts for plots of land, ship building and maintenance workshops, warehouses and other commercial outlets.

Ship yard officials expect 85 percent of its total area to be taken by companies that are already operating out of the existing facility near Garhoud Bridge on the Dubai Creek.

Applications have also been received from aspiring newcomers.

The Jadaf Dubai complex at Dubai Maritime City would include 82 workshops, ranging in size from 884sq m to 442 sq m, 58 warehouses of 510 sq m each, more than 30 commercial outlets specializing in marine accessories, spare parts, engines and oils, in addition to office units, showrooms, restaurants and labour accommodation for about 9,000 people.
