Pioneering international climate change exhibition comes to Fujairah

About NorthSouthEastWest:
The exhibition, created by the British Council and The Climate Group and featuring 10 climate issues, in 12 locations by 10 Magnum photographers, opened in London in March 2005 and will travel to around 70 countries, with some countries already having reported visitor numbers in excess of 10,000.

The exhibition shows real examples of the changing global climate with visible examples from melting glaciers in Greenland to extreme weather events and environmental refugees from China, India and Africa. The exhibition also examines poor urban air quality, lack of available water, and impacts on biodiversity, as well as energy efficiency and renewable energy, fuel cell technology, carbon capture, storage and offsetting, and emissions trading. Finally, it looks at people; the faces and voices that are making a difference to the changing global climate.

About ZeroCarbonCity:
ZeroCarbonCity is the British Council's two-year global campaign to raise awareness about climate change and the energy challenges facing the world's cities.

A ZeroCarbonCity is one which is emission-free and thus does not contribute to global warming. The ZeroCarbonCity campaign therefore shifts the emphasis away from climate change impacts and inter-governmental negotiations, towards mitigation, adaptation and practical measures that people can adopt.

An increasing number of the world's population are living in cities, and a significant part of climate change is affected by the actions of people in these cities, which is why the British Council is running the ZeroCarbonCity campaign which concentrates on the relationship between climate change and cities.
