DCCI announces phase two of new business group strategy

Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry chaired a series of general meetings this month and last to establish new business groups representing foodstuffs trading, land transport, pharmaceuticals and health equipments trading, building materials trading and manufacturing, printing and publishing, food and beverages manufacturing, and the exhibitions and conventions sector. Each new business group enjoys the legal backing of DCCI.

Ahmed Al Banna, Assistant Director General for Studies and International Affairs at DCCI, said: "Phase one of the new business group strategy has been a great success. The attendance of DCCI members representing all seven industry sectors at the first series of meetings was very encouraging. Each meeting was a valuable opportunity to share the views of members and look to the future."

The objective of the new business groups is to bring the DCCI closer to its members and represent member interests more effectively. During the next phase of meetings, each business group will elect a panel of top industry executives to represent them from nominations submitted over the last two months.

Mr Al Banna continued: "We are now entering phase two. Each new business group will elect a panel of between eight to 12 senior officials to speak on their behalf, and to work in partnership with the Chamber and the local and federal authorities."

DCCI representatives will attend the next series of meetings scheduled at the Chamber as follows:
