Oman Aviation Services reports profit of RO 2.893 Million

Oman Aviation services (Oman Air) has announced improved financial results for the financial year ended 31 December 2006 and reported a profit of RO 2.893 Million compared to RO 1.006 Million during the year 2005, recording an increase of 187.5 per cent.
H.E Said bin Hamdoon Al Harthy, Oman Aviation services chairman said that the company's performance during the year 2006 had been remarkable indicating successful operational policy, which resulted in good profits for the third successive year. The distinguished performance of the company came as a result of the comprehensive policies undertaken by the management as well as the achievements materialized department wise. This has taken place in spite of the existence challenges by the growing new airlines and the constant increase of fuel prices.
H.E. the Chairman added, "The achieved results are considered as explicit indication on the successful policies applied to upgrade the company's activities. Our determined visions are not only to play an active role regionally but also internationally, based on our achieved results which indicate efficiency of staff and reliability of organization structure and policies. This will also contribute in achieving more success and support the company's operation during the current year 2007, while providing the uppermost quality maintenance services in compliance with the international standards and promoting best practices in operational safety of our procedures."
H.E. also said, "This impressive performance had been achieved because of the outstanding commitment and dedication of the company's staff as well as the continued support of our faithful customers, business associates, shareholders and board members. I would like to take this opportunity to extend my deep thanks and gratitude for them all."
H.E. concluded saying, on behalf of the board of directors, executive management and the staff of Oman Aviations Services, "I would like to express our sincere gratefulness to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, for His Majesty's invariable support to the company. In addition, I would like to ensure our persistence to do the utmost to achieve the national objectives, promote tourism and provide efficient air transport for our valued passengers through well-planned operational strategies."
Commenting on the occasion, Corporate Communications and Media Department, "Oman Air has recorded noticeable performance in all operational segments of business. In 2006, the company carried 1.226 million passengers with an increase of 91,000 passengers or 8% arriving at a traffic growth of 2% compared with the year 2005. The average seat factor across the network remained at a healthy level of 76%. The average aircraft utilization remained high at 12.6 block hours per day per aircraft, one of the highest in the industry. "
Corporate communications and Media Department concluded, in airport services, Oman Aviation Services handled 23,545 flights, an increase of 16%, passenger movement of 4.521 million, an increase of 33%, Cargo tonnage of 67,700 metric tons, an increase of 22% and catered 4.237 million meals to airline passengers, an increase of 28% over the previous year 2005.
