- PRESS RELEASE
i2, the region's largest and most diverse mobile phone provider, will have its content catalogue, i2 Club, available on all Nokia phones as of this month.
A mobile shopping portal, i2 Club allows access to a large array of downloadable content such as ring tones, graphics, games, wallpaper and JAVA applications. The combination of the service and Nokia's Content Discoverer, an on-device content portal that makes it easy for users to access content catalogs, will ultimately create a user friendly shopping "store" with the widest choices of downloadable content available to mobile subscribers in the region.
"The agreement handled many by i2's Cellempower and Nokia is not only good news for the two companies," said Abdul Hameed Al Sunaid, President, i2. "Regional Nokia phone users will now have easy access to more content, content that is relevant to their lifestyles. Whether users are downloading for fun or for practical purposes, our joint efforts will greatly enhance the overall experience."
New Nokia devices will have a "Catalogs" icon, which when clicked will upload a list of providers in the region, including i2 Club. Downloadable content can be previewed and purchasing is finalized by clicking the "buy" button. The cost is automatically deducted and the content automatically updated.
"The collaboration between i2 and Nokia has made content browsing and buying extremely simple and convenient," said Jihad El Eit, VP of Marketing, i2. "Nokia's Content Discoverer eliminates the need for such manual work as inputting content ids or SMS short codes. Content is easily browsed and a purchase is made with a click of a button, everything else is done automatically."
