Iran in IMF appeal

Iran has asked the IMF to explore whether the sanctions imposed by the US against the Bank Saderat violate the organisation's rules on foreign exchange restrictions, reported Reuters. Talks were held between the IMF and Iranian finance officials towards the end of last year. Iran said that since the sanctions were enforced the bank has been unable to issue letters of credit in dollars and this had impacted on deposits.
