Dubai Studio City: Emirates Film Competition boosts local industry development

Dubai Studio City, member of TECOM Investments, has hailed the Emirates Film Competition as an important initiative that strongly supports the development of the local film industry by promoting creative talent.
Jamal Al Sharif, Director of Dubai Studio City said: "The competition has evolved into a vital platform for UAE filmmakers. The event provides them with opportunities to express their creativity and demonstrate their artistic capabilities.
"Dubai Studio City is keen to support initiatives that aim to develop national film makers. Today's networking event underscores DSC's commitment to enhancing dialogue among the emerging talent in the UAE and their peers from different parts of the world."
Al Sharif added the UAE has successfully attracted the global cinema industry's attention by launching unique initiatives such as the Emirates Film Competition and Dubai International Film Festival.
The networking event held in Abu Dhabi was attended by Masoud Amralla Al Ali, Competition Manager and General Supervisor. It also saw a large participation of local and international film talent, along with a delegation of senior executives from Dubai Studio City.

About Dubai Studio City:Launched in Feb, 2005, Dubai Studio City (DSC) will offer a complete technical and community infrastructure catering to the film and TV production industries. To be built on a space area of more than 20 million square feet within Dubailand, DSC aims to attract production companies and a wide range of support services, including providers for animation, dubbing, makeup, costume design, stage design and building, casting, telnet agencies, telecine, and laboratory facilities.
DSC will feature pre-built studios, sound stages, workshops, backlots and stage areas, a broadcast centre housing offices and post-production studios, and a business centre for freelancers. The cluster will also house film academies, location approval services, entertainment and retail spaces, and hotels and residential facilities to accommodate crews and casts. DSC will provide a single window for applying for production permits and visas.
