Acer and Al Jammaz team-up to increase Saudi market share

Acer Computer, one of the Kingdom's leading IT vendors, has announced the appointment of a new partner, as well as two executives to drive sales growth in the Gulf's biggest market.

According to an Acer spokesperson, the company will partner with Saudi's Al Jammaz for the sale of commercial products, particularly to the Kingdom's growing SMB sector.

In a related move, Acer has announced the appointment of two new managers - Basem Salaymeh for retail sales and Karim Hammad for commercial sales.

"Acer's decision to partner with Al Jammaz was an easy one to make: Al Jammaz has an established track record of success in the Saudi's commercial space. It's Information Technology sales business in the Kingdom is well established, and we intend to tap into that enormous resource base of existing Al Jammaz customers," said Karim Hammad, Acer's commercial sales manager in Saudi Arabia.

Al Jammaz Group has interests in agriculture, finance, telecommunications, IT Distribution, hospitality, food stuffs, and fashion, and is widely represented across the country.

"Al Jammaz has a history of excellence, both in terms of its sales record and its international partnership track record. Our technology brands speak for themselves, and we believe that the Acer brand is one which has yet to fully realize its potential here in Saudi Arabia," said Asim Al Jammaz. "Acer's products for the commercial and SMB space offer the world's latest technology and they get to market fast, two key considerations for our market."

Acer is already the leading laptop vendor in the Kingdom, as ranked by independent research firm IDC.

"Our goal is to be the Kingdom's number one choice for IT hardware and solutions," said Shashank Sharma, Acer country manager for Saudi Arabia. "But to be the best technology provider in the country, Acer has to have the best partners and on-the-ground staff. With the appointment of Al Jammaz, as well as Basem Salaymeh and Karim Hammad, Acer is well on track to gain significant Saudi market share beyond notebook sales."
