AMD appoints leader for Middle East, Africa and Pakistan

AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced the appointment of Gautam Srivastava as vice president, sales and marketing; managing director, Middle East, Africa (MEA) and Pakistan.
Srivastava's appointment represents a sharpened focus by AMD in the region and in particular on Egypt, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. His priority will be to increase customer choice in the region, with a focus on establishing long-term relationships with partners and key customers, particularly government and large enterprises. In the region he will also lead AMD's 50x15 initiative, which seeks to empower 50% of the world's population with Internet access by the year 2015.
"The Middle East, Africa and Pakistan represent the next wave of growing world economies. The changes and progress to come are exciting and compelling. Through its technologies and solutions, AMD is committed to enabling governments, enterprises and consumers in the region to realize these ambitions," Srivastava said.
"Furthermore, AMD is committed to a long-term presence in the region, with headquarters in Dubai and branch operations in South Africa."
Srivastava will be assisted by two of his key regional executives: Gaith Kadir and Abdallah Saqqa. Kadir, AMD regional director, will continue to be heavily involved in the region with a focus on tenders and building strong bonds with strategic customers in enterprise and government.
Kadir said, "Gautam brings outstanding business, customer and operational experience to the region. We look forward to his insight and guidance as AMD broadens our footprint and focus in this region."
Abdallah Saqqa, AMD regional distribution manager, will directly oversee relationships and operations with distributors in the region.
