Globalpharma appoints Syed Jamil Akhtar as a new General Manager

Akhtar will bring to Globalpharma 36 years of professional experience in the Middle East pharmaceutical industry, and proven marketing skills having successfully guided other top companies in various market segments in the region.

Akhtar joins Glopbalpharma fresh from a successful stint as Marketing Director with Merck Sharp & Dohme - Saudi Arabia, which rose to become a top-tier company in the Saudi pharmaceutical market.

From 1994-1998, Akhtar worked as marketing manager for Saudi Pharmaceutical Industries & Medical Appliances Corp. (SPIMACO). In 1971, Akhtar who had a Masters in Business Administration with majors in Marketing and Sales Management started his pharmaceutical career when he joined Merck Sharp & Dohme - Pakistan as a medical representative, and was subsequently appointed product manager, marketing planning manager and marketing director.

Globalpharma has been actively seeking out new opportunities to expand its product portfolio and establish partnerships with global pharmaceutical companies, particularly European firms wanting to penetrate the UAE and GCC healthcare markets.
