- PRESS RELEASE
National Projects Holding Co. (NPHC) of Kuwait received the prestigious Arabian Business Kuwait Achievement Award for Corporate Social Responsibility.
The award was given in recognition of the various socially responsible initiatives and investments put forth by the National Projects Holding Co. during the past twelve months. "We believe that it is the responsibility of every profitable company to give back to the community they live and work in," said Musaed Al-Saleh, Vice Chairman & CEO of National Projects Holding Co. "We will continue to maintain this belief in both our investments and social work."
NPHC has committed to playing a role in solving the waste problems in the region through its Dubai Recycling Park project. Located within Dubai Industrial City this will be the first fully integrated waste management and recycling park in the Middle East.
The park will be developed on a site measuring 1,500,000 square feet with a 49 year lease agreement with Dubai Industrial City and a capital investment of up to USD150 million. Construction is planned to commence in mid-2007 and will be fully completed within 18 months.
NPHC has also contributed to raising regional environmental awareness through hosting the UAE's inaugural global warming conference held in Dubai in January 2007. Featuring former President of Costa Rica and former CEO of the World Economic Forum, H.E. José María Figueres as the keynote speaker, 'Global Warming: The Role of the Business Community' provided a vital opportunity for leaders of the local business community to discuss the issues surrounding global climate change and develop potential solutions.
In addition, immediately following the recent war in Lebanon, NPHC held a charity dinner in Kuwait to assist in raising funds for children affected by the conflict. The company also recently contributed US$100,000 for Kuwaiti director, Sulayman Al-Bassam, to produce the first Arabic Shakespeare play performed by the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) in the UK.
"It was a huge privilege for us to support an Arab theatre company in presenting the Royal Shakespeare Co.'s first Arabic production, at the most prestigious stage of Shakespearian theatre," said Al-Saleh, "Sulayman is Kuwait's finest talent, and in times of such cultural conflict it's crucial that all voices in the global community are heard to encourage an environment of mutual understanding."
