Qatar's gas demand to triple

Qatar's energy minister said the country's domestic gas demand is expected to almost triple to around 5bn cubic feet per day in the next three years, Reuters reported. Abdulla bin Hamad Al Attiyah put 2006 demand at around 1.5bn cf/d. More gas is needed to power local industry, such as aluminium smelting.
