This innovative move, which will see the environmental management of this impressive 138 hectare multi use development, has been acclaimed and fully supported by the UAE Federal Minster of the Environment and Water, Dr. Mohammed Al Kindy.

Dr. Mohammed Al Kindy has said, "This project is truly the vision of the future of the UAE and the world. It is exactly what we are encouraging and supporting here in the UAE. We must, as a country, look towards a future of sustainable development and responsible environmental real-estate development. It is for that reason we are fully supporting The Palisades in their environmental construction vision," he said at a recent presentation of The Palisades project

The Palisades is the vision of His Highness Sheikh Issa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, son of the late and globally renowned Arab statesman and founding father of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Zayed. This luxury development will cover 15 million square feet in the heart of New Dubai. It will be home to over 55,000 people and phase one of the project will be ready in 2008.

As a result of project planning from globally renowned Environmental Consultant and Value Management expert, Stephen Oehme, The Palisades environmental inclusions and infrastructure will reduce projected energy consumption, water consumption, and contribution to landfill across all residential areas to levels hitherto unachieved.

"No other development in Dubai, the UAE, or globally is making environmental assessments on a project of this scale," said Stephen Oehme, The Palisades Chief Environmental Consultant, while addressing international media at MIPIM, the world's largest property exhibition, held in Cannes, France.

"The technologies and methods that we are reviewing at The Palisades, Dubai, are extremely comprehensive. The scale of the project has given rise to unique environmental opportunities which we are capturing. Having reviewed many of the world's most significant environmental projects, we can truly say that the work with this particular development team is ground-breaking. The environmental outcomes that will be achieved will create an international benchmark for communities and all developers world-wide.

"Other developers are typically committing to just one or two environmental initiatives and overall the environmental initiatives are secondary. At The Palisades environmental responsibility is one of the primary objectives of the project - we are reviewing over 20 initiatives which when combined will result in a world first in environmental benchmarking," he concluded.

In conclusion, The Palisades project CEO, Osman Valli, has said, "Through the Palisades, the United Arab Emirates is now exploring and conquering new frontiers in environmental development and responsibility. The Palisades will perform a vital and necessary function as the model community for global developers to scrutinize as they witness the birth of the future of real estate development. Once again, the U.A.E. leads the world with the fervent hope that all developments around the globe will embrace our model of environmental development, and in turn help save our world."
