Essar eyes Azadegan

  • Iran: Sunday, March 18 - 2007 at 07:51

India's Essar Group is holding discussions with Iran over the development of the Azadegan oil field, which has reserves of 26bn barrels, reported Reuters. Iran had granted a 75% share to Japan's Inpex Holdings in 2004 but this was slashed to 10% last October after delays to the start of the project. Essar wants to ensure a fuel supply, via the field, for a refinery and steel plant planned for Iran.
