Since it's foundation in 1978, 'Anatomy of Shipping' has benefited over 2000 shipping professionals. Continuing with the now well-established methods pioneered by its Cambridge, UK programmes, the Academy will be offering a new educational facility in Dubai, beginning with three topical courses for 2007.

• Business of Shipping
• Anatomy of Tanker Shipping
• Understanding Tanker Chartering

Three courses, but one goal: to provide shipping professionals with a continuous learning curve to keep pace with developments in a fast-changing industry. In a programme of lectures and discussion groups, students of all ages from a diverse range of business backgrounds develop strong working relationships. Personalities, skills, knowledge, opinions and strengths all contribute to a highly-focused learning experience within an educational setting, removed from the daily pressures of the workplace.

"Through my participation in the course I have a better appreciation of the functions of other departments within my company and the difficulties they may face."
Michel Tardiff, Canada Steamship Lines, Canada

Since the mid-1980s, Cambridge Academy of Transport have run occasional courses in Dubai and other GCC countries complementary to its UK based programmes. By offering a structured curriculum of courses, this new venture recognises the importance of Dubai as not only a shipping hub but also the ideal location for education and training in the region. Seatrade, with its unparalleled reputation for professionalism in delivering conference and exhibition events in Dubai, will bring their experience to the programmes to make them both informative and exciting.

Business of Shipping (3 day course) - May 28-30 2007
Being an expert in one field is no longer enough - an awareness of the whole business is essential. Environmental issues impact economics. Political shifts open up threats and opportunities. Changes in law, finance, marketing, energy and technology all create fresh challenges. For those needing the big picture, whether through changing roles, entering the shipping industry for the first time or as a refresher, the Business of Shipping intensive 3-day course provides the answers.

Anatomy of Tanker Shipping (3 day course)
Anatomy of Tanker Shipping examines the characteristics of the business today and charts the key events that have shaped this exciting industry. Pollution, safety, regulation, opportunity, timing and capital are just a few of the ingredients which will feature in this analysis of the tanker shipping business.

Understanding Tanker Chartering (2 day course)
Participants attending this course will be exposed to the skills required of a chartering executive, including preparation, negotiating, voyage planning, voyage estimating, post fixture operations and laytime calculating.
