The award which was introduced to the students of Zayed University at the official launch, is a special programme designed by Master Foods to honor excellence in the field of Food Health Sciences.

The Academic Award of Excellence calls on a great deal of originality and creativity by rewarding the team of students that comes up with the best concept in food innovation. Being introduced by Master Foods in 2003, the award drives the students' interest in food and health science by engaging them in the real world of food manufacturing processes and by sharing Master Foods' expertise in that field.

"Master Foods is delighted to have the opportunity to pass on its knowledge in food innovation to the students of Zayed University and to encourage teamwork spirit among the participants," said Christine Greaves, Master Foods Corporate Affairs Manager. "We are committed to the community in which we operate and we are pleased to contribute to the students' success by encouraging and supporting their interest in food and health science," added Miss Greaves.

The special programme has been gathering momentum among the students since it was first launched in Zayed University four years ago. The success of last year's award, which honored a female national student, reflected the importance of educational related competitions as a way of enriching the curriculum.

'Zayed University's continuous partnership with Master Foods gives our students the opportunity to expand their knowledge beyond their daily studies" comments Dr. Chris Nuttman from the Zayed University Health Science Department. "Last year's Academic Award for Excellence generated a huge response among our students and we are grateful to Master Foods for continuing this initiative,' added Dr. Nuttman.

Judging will start 6 weeks after the launch date. The judging panel consists of members of the University Faculty as well as Master Food's research and development associates who will assess the applicants' submissions.

The Academic Award for Excellence is not the only partnership between Master Foods and UAE's educational sector. Another successful cooperation witnessed the launch of Al Haraka Baraka (movement is blessing), a physical activity program which has been implemented in over 30 schools across the UAE.
