- PRESS RELEASE
Gulf Air's eighteen trainee engineers, 11 Bahrainis and seven Omanis, who are undergoing an 18-month training at the Australia Aviation facilities in Brisbane, have shown impressive results in their assessment exams.
Four of the trainees engineers are due to complete their B1 Engine & Airframe European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Licence training and exams in May '07 while the rest will continue their training for further three months to complete the B2 Avionics Licence requirements. On their return to Bahrain, all 18 would work on Gulf Air aircraft for two years to gain on-the-job experience. They would then be fully qualified to be granted an EASA Aircraft Maintenance Engineers' Licence.
"Though the training is tough and challenging, our trainees are exceptionally good and promising and their impressive exam results is proof of this " says Gulf Air's Manager Technical Training and Development Tim De Alwis.
"These exams, coupled with practical experience on aircraft maintenance, mould them to become full-fledged Aircraft Maintenance Engineers."
The students are supervised by experienced instructors, who closely monitor both their academic and practical performance.
Recruited under the Gulf nationals engineering programme, have already successfully completed two phases of their modular training i.e. Module-6 on Aircraft Material & Hardware and M-7 on Aircraft maintenance Practices and appeared for an EASA Part 66 modular exam.
