Dubai Financial Market organises blood donation day
- United Arab Emirates: Sunday, March 18 - 2007 at 14:19
- PRESS RELEASE
Dubai Financial Market (DFM) announced today that it will hold a blood donation day, in collaboration with Al Wasl Hospital, on Monday, March 19, 2007.
More than 150 individuals from DFM and brokerage firms will take part in campaign to support the "Blood Donation Centre," which provides blood units to the three main hospitals in the Department of Health and Medical Services: Rashid Hospital, Dubai Hospital and Al Wasl Hospital.
The campaign is in line with DFM's efforts to promote lifesaving care for patients in need of blood transfusions, including those with thalassaemia.
A special medical unit, comprising seven nurses and one doctor, will be present during the blood donation day, which will take place between 9:30AM and 2:30PM.
Seham Al Rafie, Coordinator of the campaign, DFM, said: "Donating blood is a noble way to serve humanity, especially those with thalassemia, who are in critical need of blood as they require frequent transfusions. The need for blood by patients being treated for injuries, routine surgeries and serious diseases, such as cancer, heart ailments and thalassaemia, is ongoing and must be met every day."
He added: "Many units of blood will be collected during this one-day drive. I would like to urge investors, DFM and brokerage firm employees, and the general public to take part in this noble initiative."
Flyers and booklets raising awareness about blood donations will be distributed among investors, brokerage firms and DFM employees during the campaign.
