BMW ALPINA automobiles record growth in 2006

  • United Arab Emirates: Monday, March 05 - 2007 at 15:29
  • PRESS RELEASE

ALPINA GmbH + Co KG, purveyors of BMW ALPINA automobiles, has announced an unprecedented 65.5% increase in 2006 GCC sales over 2005, which reflects the premier car manufacturer's massive regional growth.

Leading the growth has been the BMW ALPINA B7 which saw exceptional volume increase of 67% across all its six GCC partners. The B7 is top-of-the-class in the BMW ALPINA stable with a 500-hp supercharged 4.4-litre V8 engine, dedicated sports suspension and a 0-100 km/h sprint in 4.9 seconds.

Launched in early 2006, the B6 was also a top seller, leading vehicle growth with the B6 Coupe outselling the B6 Cabrio four to one. Amongst all GCC BMW ALPINA importers, Abu Dhabi Motors and Saudi-based MY Naghi Motors performed especially well in volume and overall growth, respectively.

"We have the right business partners across the GCC," said Kris Odwarka, Sales Operations, Middle East, North America, UK, for ALPINA GmbH + Co KG. "With an exclusive automobile such as the BMW ALPINA and importers who cruise along with the toughest of our business objectives, achieving high double-digit growth has been relatively straight-forward.

"The BMW ALPINA B6 led this immense growth alongside the B7 in its very first year. It's the fastest BMW ALPINA created yet, with a top speed of 315 km/h and a phenomenal 0-100 km/h time of 4.6 seconds,. And for a car that so recently made an entry into the market, the sales performance has been outstanding."

While automobile volume has been on the rise for all GCC importers, ALPINA's accessories and parts volume growth has seen a rapid increase, too.

"The automotive aftermarket is highly competitive across the GCC, but our long-term business strategy, coupled with aggressive marketing inputs especially in the wheel/tyre and aerodynamics packages has led the way," explained Odwarka.

"Our continued investment in the business and in our customers has paid dividends and the premium service our partners provide in sales and aftersales demonstrates our commitment to being a leader in the burgeoning automotive industry.
"ALPINA strives to enhance the customer's ownership experience, knowing that only this can ensure high loyalty to our brand. Our regional growth has been a litmus test within this competitive sector and we look forward to continuous overall growth this year, as well," he concluded.

About ALPINA GmbH + Co KG:
ALPINA strives for the synthesis of fascination and reason. The motivation behind ALPINA, a small but enterprising automotive manufacturer, has been to fulfil the desire for an exceptional vehicle even in this age of mass production.
The ALPINA ethos is founded on building special automobiles for a small circle of cognoscenti, for people who have a taste for exclusivity and the finer things in life, and who aren't in need of exhibitionist exterior presentation in their automobile.

More emphasis is placed on ALPINA's values rather than its exterior differentiation, which is why ALPINA chose to draw the basis for their automotive work exclusively from BMW: a great marque, and one of the best and most technologically advanced.
From this superior basis, ALPINA asserts its right as a manufacturer of refined, clever automobiles, to offer its exclusive clientele an exotic automobile with ultimate and reliable performance.

ALPINA GmbH + Co KG has worked closely with BMW AG since 1961, with shared warranty coverage since 1964. ALPINA GmbH was established in 1965 for the purpose of building BMW ALPINA automobiles, with registration as an automobile manufacturer to ISO standards in 1983.
BMW ALPINA automobiles are offered through selected authorised BMW importers throughout the Middle East, and have been present in the region since 2001.
