'The opening of Sun's new training centre will ensure that trainings are delivered in keeping with the highest standards - allowing for optimal learning experiences in a specialised environment,' said Dr. Thomas Bayer, Sun's Chief Learning Officer for South and East EMEA.

'The technically advanced set-up will offer training across Sun's product portfolio, and training on many of Sun-based solutions developed by our regional partners will also be an area of focus. This initiative will also present future opportunities for Sun to work more closely with educational and government bodies in the UAE, where we will be able to present local programs to build competitive IT skills for students and communities.'

Powered by 2KnowIT, the Sun Training Center is fully equipped with hardware that allows all training sessions and high-end workshops to be delivered through a remote lab. The training centre is expected to double in size within the next 18 months.

All 2KnowIT instructors at the training centre are certified for the training courses offered by Sun. Furthermore, custom course development, training needs analysis, individual and team skills analysis, and other educational consulting services will be offered to support Sun customers and partners.

Joachim Reith, Managing Director, 2KnowIT, said: 'We have been Sun's training partner since 1999, and are dedicated to Sun technologies and development. The unique services offered by 2KnowIT are based on the technical training infrastructure we will offer Sun customers and on the advanced technical and teaching experiences of our instructors. This partnership will allow Sun Microsystems to close an important gap in building the right skills within its regional customer and partner base and ensure advanced IT solutions.'

The Sun Training Centre is fully operational and is located in Building 19, Dubai Knowledge Village.
