Etihad borrows for planes

Etihad is to borrow $1.3bn this year to fund plane acquisitions, reported Gulf News. Executive Vice-President James Rigney said the largest loan would total about $500m and would be required to purchase four Airbus A340-600s. A $360m loan being led by the National Bank of Abu Dhabi should be arranged shortly, while a $400m Islamic finance deal led by Citigroup and the Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank was signed two weeks ago.
