DHCC-HMSDC to hold next edition of Practi-Med in Dubai on 24 March

The next edition of the innovative Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme for healthcare specialists - 'Specialty Practi-Med: Gastroenterology for Specialists Primary and Care Practitioners' - will be held on 24 March at Grand Hyatt Dubai.

Organized by the Harvard Medical School Dubai Center (HMSDC) and Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC), a member of Tatweer, the programme is designed to review the latest information for healthcare professionals on the diagnosis and management of gastroenterology disorders.

Dr. Muhadditha Al Hashimi, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Healthcare City, said: "The CME activity will enable participants to improve clinical skills related to gastroenterology, learn the latest strategies for the prevention, recognition, diagnosis, and treatment of important gastroenterology syndromes, and acquire an understanding on new and emerging concepts that will define future therapies for gastroenterology disorders. They will also enhance their clinical skills in concepts in diagnosis, medical and endoscopic management."

Al Hashimi said the programme has been reviewed and approved by the Department of Continuing Medical Education at the Harvard Medical School Dubai Center Institute for Postgraduate Education and Research.

"HMSDC designates this educational activity for a maximum of 5.0 CME credit hours. Each physician should claim only those credits that he or she actually spent in the educational activity," she added.

"This CME programme is designed for gastroenterologists, internists, primary care physicians with an interest in gastroenterology, and medical students and nurses in the UAE and the Gulf," said Dr. Robert L. Thurer, Chief Academic Officer of HMSDC.

"A distinguished multidisciplinary faculty of healthcare leaders will educate and inform audiences through keynote lectures, panel discussions, and case presentation sessions," he added.

Dr. Wael Dahan, Consultant at American Hospital in Dubai, will be the Course Director, while the participating faculty will include Dr. Ram Chuttani, Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Dr. Nizar N. Zein, Professor of Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine.

Participants who complete the programme will receive a Harvard Medical School Dubai Center (HMSDC) certificate of attendance.

Programme topics include Management of Hepatitis; Gastroesophagel Reflux Disease - new concepts in diagnosis, medical and endoscopic management; Approach to Obscure GI Bleeding; Frontiers in Therapeutic Endoscopy; ERCP in the Managements of Pancreatico-biliary Diseases, and Tricks in Therapeutic Endoscopy.
