KOM welcomes new tenant

The Information Technology Authority (ITA) has signed a lease agreement with Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM), the world-class technology park owned and managed by The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE).

"ITA will move into KOM in June and occupy approximately 3,000 square metres of Class A office accommodation, bringing the number of companies based on KOM to 61," remarked Sultan Al Habsi, CEO, PEIE. ITA joins an increasing number of leading edge technology companies and organizations from Oman and around the world now based at the Rusayl technology park.

ITA is responsible for implementing national IT infrastructure projects and supervising the roll out of the Digital Oman strategy. It also manages activities aimed at improving e-government services, as well as promoting the use of technology in the public and private sectors.

Dr. Salim Al Ruzaiqi, CEO, ITA said: "It's a fantastic location, highly conducive for inspirational thinking. It also has an excellent IT infrastructure with fibre cabled broadband, which is essential to our operations."

ITA already has close links with KOM and Dr. Al Ruzaiqi views the move as an opportunity for further collaboration with the Park's management as well as with its diverse tenant base. "Opening on KOM means that we can continue to develop without any restraints on space. We've exceeded all initial expectations and achieved significant growth over the past few months. The move to KOM will enable us to accommodate more staff and really move forward with our remit," remarked Dr. Al Ruzaiqi.

"The relocation of ITA to KOM signals a growing demand for hi-tech, plug and play office facilities in the capital. Indeed, we're delighted that we were able to accommodate such an important and prestigious organization," added Mohammed Al Maskari, Director General, KOM.
