The one day event held at Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) focused on mobility solutions in modern healthcare and education sectors.
HRH Princess Sumaya welcomed attendees and lauded the cooperation between PSUT and Fujitsu Siemens Computers. She said: 'It is a great pleasure and honor to witness Fujitsu Siemens Computers and Intel reveal the fruit of their cooperation, to service the critical sectors of health care and education through our university.'
According to a recent survey* conducted by Fujitsu Siemens Computers, more than 70 per cent of companies, ranging from SMB's to larger enterprises, have implemented mobile solutions. 'An increasing number of businesses worldwide are becoming mobile; with the objective of increasing productivity, saving time and motivating employees through mobile computing,' said Christian Bock, Sr. Marketing Manager, Mobility Marketing EMEA for Fujitsu-Siemens Computers.
'Mobility, however, has to be based on a strategy, and by selecting the appropriate model that suits each businesses requirement. A credible mobility solution would increase employee productivity, ensure data accuracy and enterprise responsiveness, or optimise client relationships. Like many businesses, the rapidly growing education and healthcare sector are no different. Inspite being budget controlled, these establishments are turning towards mobility solutions to drive efficiency and reduce costs.'
In his address to the delegates, Abdul-Rahim Milbes, CEO of General Computers & Electronics Co. (GCE), agents and representatives of Fujitsu Siemens Computers in Jordan, said: 'The combined efforts of two leading IT entities - Fujitsu Siemens Computers and Intel Corp, have led to provide processing power and cutting-edge designs to cater to the needs of the health sector and education. Our products for the healthcare sector have empowered medical professionals to boost productivity, while ensuring total patient satisfaction. They can now access electronic patient files while on the move and at the bedside, electronically record clinical data, facilitate better medical coordination, access accurate and up-to-date medical images anywhere and anytime, and minimise paper processing, thus reducing costs.'
Managing and accessing patient data with online forms via wi-fi, and using 3G/UMTS is one of the benefits that the healthcare sector can benefit from mobility solutions. DRG coding and supporting documentation tasks can be performed faster, while minimising errors, and improving collaboration with health insurers and securing revenues.
Bock maintains that today's education sector faces the challenges of effective learning, student-teacher access to learning documentation, and productivity, with students still being accustomed to using a PC. He said: 'Offering mobility solutions to schools and collages is a means to make learning more effective, and making the most out of teaching staff. By allowing students and teachers to use notebooks and tablet PC's, we can be assured of higher effectiveness in learning, encourage interactive learning and teaching, and improve overall efficiency.'
Bock added: 'Mobility has been developing with a device-centric approach, especially in the handheld market. The challenge for us as an IT vendor is to demonstrate the business advantages, to help in developing an integrated mobility strategy, and take care of user/device/solution acceptance.'
Fujitsu Siemens Computers have a vast product portfolio of mobility products suited for all industry types; such as the UMTS embedded LIFEBOOK Series, and the STYLISTIC Series. 'Fujitsu Siemens Computers is the first IT supplier with an entire product range of embedded UMTS products,' said Andrew Lamb, Product Manager for Fujitsu Siemens Computers Middle East. 'They are easier to handle, offer superior performance, are more robust, and ideal for extended usage; features best suited for the health and education sector. Medical and educational professionals can benefit from wireless connectivity with up to three integrated antennas to ensure seamless connectivity, thereby enhancing productivity.'
Fujitsu-Siemens Computers have equipped several global hospitals and educations institutions with mobility solution.
