RTA participates in the 'Emirates Career Fair 2007'

Out of its commitment to offer promising job opportunities to the young local fresh graduates of universities and institutes, and enhancing its personnel with distinctive UAE capabilities, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) since its inception in November 2005 is participating for the second time in a row in the 'Emirates Career Fair 2007'.

Activities kicked off this morning at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Center and will run through until the 15th of the current month, with a huge participation of different main economic and trade sectors in the UAE including finance, hospitality and tourism, oil and gas, training and education along with a number of companies from the public and private sectors.

The RTA stand this year is distinct with the iPoint Screen System that allows the users to instruct and interact with the screen by waving their hands without touching anything to open any of the icons. The visitors will also enjoy watching the RTA Corporate Video, Dubai Metro Video, all agencies' profiles and the two programs offered by the HR Department (Scholarship Program for High School Students and Fresh Graduate Recruitment and Development Program).

Kawthar Kazim, Director of HR Department at RTA said: "The RTA strives within its strategy pursues to effectively push the wheel of the Emiratization forward through its strong participation in this event, stemming from its belief in the fresh graduates' capabilities, who would be attracted to take over a number of positions at the RTA, would play a pivotal role in its future and the future of the UAE, which immensely depends on the youth's energies to partake in the building of the national economy, as they represent the essential fundamental in the construction and progress drive and they indisputably are the future leaders."

She added that the candidates would be subject to training sessions depending on their specializations to develop their abilities, polish off their talents and promote their efficiencies in the work environment so as to enrich the RTA with young bloods capable of playing their roles to contribute to a number of the leading projects the RTA is executing including Dubai Metro, the first of its kind project in the region, as well as widening and developing the roads network, the public transport network, marine transport and other vital projects, would be an added value to Dubai's record of breakthroughs in all economic, trade, service, financial, tourism and real estate sectors, which are considered as an indicator to the progress on all fronts.

The RTA also aims through its participation in this key event to present its Scholarship Program for High School Students by granting Scholarships to the high school prominent graduates in the UAE to major in different fields required to fulfill the professional objects of the RTA, as it has adopted a policy to motivate the high school graduates by providing study opportunities that go with the specialist demands for a variety of projects presently and in future. The applicants to obtain these scholarships will be subject to a number of conditions and requirements the RTA has stipulated.

Since its launch seven years ago, the "Emirates Career Fair 2007" witnessed a marked growth, as this year's allotted space was expanded to cover more than 8000 square meters on three fully equipped halls to register an increase of more than 90% compared to its last year's allotted space of 4918 square meters. This fair is deemed as a perfect platform to the organizations and the local nationals alike, to display a wide spectrum of new job opportunities. It is expected to attract over 117 thousand visitors over its three day period with participations of 179 companies including 11 government organizations under the umbrella of Dubai e-government.
