DED assists UAE job seekers with new book
- United Arab Emirates: Thursday, March 22 - 2007 at 16:58
- PRESS RELEASE
Department of Economic Development (DED) has launched a book entitled How to Get the Right Job that assists UAE nationals in finding the right job and also helps organisations to recognize the true worth of job-aspirants.
How to Get the Right Job presents vital information in an easy language and format. It is helpful as a reference book and has handy tips covering all aspects of job search - from résumé writing to appearing for job interviews.
"How to Get the Right Job offers comprehensive solutions for all job seekers and is an essential tool to get to the right position," said Khalid Al Kassim, Deputy Director General for Planning and Development at DED. "Mr. Saad's sincere and committed efforts in compiling the book are laudable."
"I read a number of books on how to write résumés and found out that majority of these were suited for North American and Canadian markets. With so many thousands of job aspirants in the UAE, I thought it was important to create a book that suits the local needs," said Mr Saad.
"Based on my research, I found out that more than 80 per cent of the people did not know how to write their own CVs; as for the rest, the standard of resume writing was mostly poor," added Mr. Saad.
The book serves as an essential tool in helping job seekers identify the right work opportunity. Details covered by the book include creating the perfect CV, writing a covering letter, using the Internet as a job search tool and creating an electronic CV. It also gives valuable tips on effectively planning one's career, and preparing and conducting oneself during an interview.
The DED distributed the book at its stand during the 7th annual Careers UAE 2007 held recently at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. The book has been well-received by graduates and college professors who plan to use it in their classes.
