Sheikh Maktoum and Sheikh Ahmed open Medcare Hospital

Sheikh Ahmed later opened the hospital's advanced Diagnostic Centre. HE Humaid Mohammad Obaid Al Qutami, UAE Health Minister, and HE Quadi Saeed Al Murooshed, Director General of the Dubai Department of Health and Medical Services, also attended the opening, along with dignitaries from the medical, government and business community.

Sheikh Maktoum and Sheikh Ahmed, accompanied by senior hospital management, toured the AED120 million state-of-the-art facility, located near Safa Park in Jumeirah.

Dr. Azad Moopen, Chairman, Medcare Hospital, said: "We are fortunate to have the patronage of the Rulers of UAE and the support of Government departments in our endeavour to provide quality health care to the population. With the launch of Medcare Hospital, we expect to offer higher standards of secondary and tertiary medical care to our customers."

Set to become one of the UAE's leading acute care hospitals, in the past few weeks Medcare has already received patients and performed minor and complex surgeries including laparoscopic (keyhole surgery) for abdominal and gynaecological conditions.

Dr. Sadik Kodakat, Executive Medical Director, Medcare Hospital, said: "Through this new facility, we hope to reach out to as many people as possible in the community with services in an environment that is modern and safe. We saw a real need for this type of facility for residents of New Dubai and Jumeirah, who until now had to go to Bur Dubai or Garhoud for immediate treatment."

Promoted under Dr.Moopen's Group and managed by Eurohealth systems, Medcare Hospital offers a full spectrum of routine and specialty services with comprehensive diagnostic and laboratory services.

Apart from 24 hours Emergency Medicine Services, basic services include general and family practice, obstetrics, gynaecology, paediatrics and general surgery.

Other services at the hospital are cardiology, cosmetology, cosmetic surgery, dermatology, dentistry, endocrinology, nephrology, urology and dialysis, ophthalmology, orthopaedics and trauma, physiotherapy and pulmonology.

The hospital has more than 250 experienced personnel from across the globe, ensuring efficient and prompt care to the highest international standards. Medcare Hospital also plans to work closely with local and community doctors, who will have access to the hospital facilities.

Future plans include home medical and nursing care, advanced ENT Centre, and there are plans to enter Health Tourism arena with the brand Med Tourism.
