Hassan Farshbaf appointed Country Manager - Algeria for BJ Services

In his new role, Farshbaf oversees all aspects of operational, financial, and business development initiatives in Algeria on behalf of the division.

With 26 years experience in the oil industry, Farshbaf, 51, joined BJ Services in 1992 at which time he facilitated BJ's entry into the Iranian market. He was responsible for selling equipment and materials to NIOC, the National Iranian Oil Company. In 1993 he was appointed Marketing and Operations Manager - Middle East Region, and transferred to Dubai where he was responsible not only for financial and operational issues in the region, but for marketing BJ Services' range of well services in Iran, Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. During this period, he also oversaw safety, personnel and operational issues for all countries within the Middle East Region. Before being appointed to Country Manager-Algeria for Well Services, he served as Area Manager for Central Asia.

Prior to joining BJ Services, Farshbaf worked for a number of years in a variety of operational, marketing, engineering, and management roles for Dowell Schlumberger in Iran, Indonesia, Thailand, Turkey, Syria and Jordan. His final assignment was as Technical and Operations Manager for the company's Canadian operations.

Originally from Tabriz, Iran, Farshbaf immigrated to Canada in 1989. As a result, he holds dual citizenship in both countries. In 1979 he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign in Illinois, USA, and is an active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. He reports to Alasdair Buchanan, Region Manager - Europe & Africa for the Well Services Division of BJ Services.
