The company saw the event, held annually in the German city of Hanover, as an ideal platform to announce the expansion of the group through a new division created to handle the handset logistic needs of operators in the Middle East.

"This is our eighth year at CeBIT, and we're delighted to have once more played a part in this important event," said Abdul Hameed Al Sunaid, CEO of i2.

"CeBIT provides us with the opportunity to raise i2's profile internationally and an ideal platform to introduce the logistics arm of the company. Additionally, the Cebit keeps us up to speed with industry trends because our main goal is to ensure that our customers have access to the latest products and services available."

i2 understands the increasingly complex and competitive environment surrounding Mobile Network Operators, and is confident that an intermediary logistics service provider such as i2 logistics will be valued by operators in the region. The company will offer numerous services such as warehousing and storage, handset customization and packaging, repair and maintenance extended warranty and more.

The latest CeBIT, which ended March 21, attracted over six thousand exhibitors from 77 countries, doubling the numbers of the previous year. Participants included representatives from a wide variety of sectors, including wholesale/retail, banking, services, government, IT and the sciences. Of the exhibitors, i2 was the only mobile retailer from the region. The company's stand generated extremely high interest, with participants from all over the world curious to learn more about the leading mobile provider in the Middle East.

"It was an ideal networking platform on which to introduce i2 to those unfamiliar with our company or the region's telecom industry," said Sunaid. "The Middle East was the most underrepresented region in the world. Asian countries were the most represented, while other regions such as Russia and Latin America had significant increases in the number of exhibitors. We are proud to be able to represent the mobile retail and wholesale sector in the Middle East."
