RTA completes 80 per cent of improvement works at intersection 5 of Sheikh Zayed Road

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that 80 per cent of the improvement works of intersection 5 at Sheikh Zayed Road project, has been completed as part of a comprehensive project being implemented at a total cost of AED 262 million.

Eng Maitha Bin Adai CEO of traffic and Roads Agency said that the project comes within the framework efforts of RTA to improve a number of main roads in Dubai within the sequence of improving a series of vital projects to keep up with the requirements of social and economic developments and to meet the needs of population growth in the Emirate.

She expressed satisfaction with the progress of work in the project, considering that the completion of 80% of which showed that it is progressing as scheduled, keeping in consideration the size of the project, which includes seven bridges, two of which will be established on Sheikh Zayed road to serve the traffic flow at the intersection instead of the old bridge, which will be eliminated within the improvement works which includes also the expansion of the Sheikh Zayed road to become six lanes in each direction.

The CEO of Traffic and Roads Agency added that the project includes an extensive network of roads and service roads leading to the bridges to ensure the smooth and free movement of traffic in all directions, in addition to the improvement and expansion of roads at the entrances of Dubai Marine, American University of Dubai and the residential areas affiliated to Emaar, Nakheel and other projects.

The project also includes improving the infrastructure in the area including water, electricity and communication services.
