Dow Jones appoints new managing editor in the Middle East

Dow Jones & Company, the world's leading provider of global business news and information services, has today announced the appointment of Andrew Critchlow as the new managing editor of the Zawya Dow Jones News Service ('ZDJ').

Mr. Critchlow (33) succeeds Simeon Kerr who has left the company. In his new role, Dubai-based Mr. Critchlow will be responsible for a team of editors and reporters around the region and will also lead Middle East energy coverage for Dow Jones Newswires. He will report to Marcus Wright, senior editor, Dow Jones Newswires, Europe, Middle East and Africa.

It also covers regional stock markets and mergers and acquisitions activity; government privatisations and budgetary moves; economic trends and infrastructure tenders.

Mr. Critchlow joins Dow Jones from Bloomberg News, where he has been deputy Gulf bureau chief and OPEC correspondent since 2004. Prior to that, he worked for Middle East Economic Digest as its senior Gulf correspondent. He holds a master's degree in Middle East politics from Durham University, U.K.

The Arabic-language ZDJ service was the 11th language service to be launched by Dow Jones Newswires. The other languages in which Dow Jones news is published are Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, Chinese and Japanese.
