- United Arab Emirates: Monday, March 26 - 2007 at 13:44
- PRESS RELEASE
The Gulf's oldest ship repair yard, Jadaf Dubai, has pledged to ensure that its on-going operations to relocate from the Creek to the Dubai Maritime City would have no negative effect on its stakeholders' business interests.
Mr. Bin Lahej said "Moving to Dubai Maritime City will undoubtedly strengthen Dubai's global position as a key player in the marine industry. The new integrated complex stretching over 106 hectares offers a unique opportunity to establish one of the most advanced ship building, repair and maintenance facilities in the world."
"We expect demand for maritime services to reach record levels in the coming years, with the massive infrastructure expansion taking place under the strategy laid down by His Highness Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai."
"The extensive development of Dubai's waterfront properties will spur a sharp increase in the demand for leisure boats and yachts of different sizes. Jadaf Dubai has allocated a fully equipped area exclusively for the maintenance and building of luxury yachts and mid- and small size boats. It will be a comprehensive facility that saves on time and cost for the customers."
This year's annual meeting marks a new phase in Jadaf Dubai's long history as the premier ship repair yard of the region. The relocation represents the biggest infrastructure expansion in the company's 29-year-old history.
Mr. Bin Lahej said "Jadaf Dubai is witnessing the most important phase in its development since its inception almost three decades ago. The move to Dubai Maritime City will be a giant leap forward that opens new horizons for us as an important player in the global marine industry."
"There is a lot of work ahead for us within the Jadaf Family, but we know that the rewards will also be bigger. As in the past, we have to be always ready to exceed the expectations of our stakeholders in carrying out our responsibilities. We will ensure that their business interests are not affected in any manner."
Jadaf Dubai's new base in Dubai Maritime City will have three docks, as against two in the old yard, all equipped with state-of-the-art Ship lifts and other equipment.
The complex will comprise of 82 medium and small sized vessel maintenance and repair workshops, 82 warehouses of 5,000 square meters each, more than 30 commercial outlets specializing in marine accessories, spare parts, engines and oils, in addition to office units, showrooms and restaurants.
