- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, March 27 - 2007 at 14:16
- PRESS RELEASE
The CEO of Coller Capital, the leading investor in private equity secondaries worldwide, has paid tribute to the jumbo leaps secured by Abu Dhabi at the tourist level, noting that the tourism industry in the Emirate enjoys the lion's share of the all-embracing development projects launched by the UAE capital's government.
"The increasing number of tourists descending on the city have fructified in a large number of investment opportunities in the tourist sector or its ancillary areas."
On his part, Mubarak Hamad Al Muhairi, Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority Director General, said the Emirate is enjoying an economic U-turn of a great avail to the private sector." The open-door policy adopted has reflected positively on the private sector's contribution to the tourist development projects, including Al Saadiyat Island project, reckoned one of the largest tourist development projects region-wide."
Coller said his company is planning for establishing a new oil & gas company and mulling over several options as to its location, noting that the resounding tourist success notched by the Emirate recommends it to be an ideal place for the embryonic company.
"It's great to know that the Emirate boasts such a clear-cut vision. The tourist presentation we got about the Emirate's potential is a model to be copied for any country wishing to achieve high economic growth rates."
Coller Capital, whose worldwide businesses are valued at over $8 billion, $500 million of which in the Gulf region, held its annual meeting at Emirates Palace hotel in Abu Dhabi over the past few days during which they have been updated on the key development projects implemented by the Emirate at present.

Notes and media contacts
About ADTAThe ADTA is the statutory body established in 2004 with wide- ranging responsibilities for the promotion and development of the emirate's international tourism industry.
ADTA has been given wide ranging responsibilities for the development and promotion of tourism in the emirate and its creation provides a clear indication of the Government's determination to secure Abu Dhabi's rightful place on the international tourism map.
The ADTA works closely with the hotels, airlines, destination management companies and other travel-related organisations in Abu Dhabi to promote the emirate and raise its international profile as an upmarket destination offering superb facilities for the visitor - whether seeking a new cultural experience, an action-packed holiday or simply a relaxing escape.
While business visitors will remain a vitally important market segment for Abu Dhabi in coming years, much of the ADTA's effort is devoted to attracting an increase in leisure travelers. At the same time, it seeks to further develop and promote the emirate as a top class MICE venue.
In parallel with this promotional role, ADTA serves as a catalyst in driving and coordinating the growth and development of the Emirate's tourism infrastructure, facilities and services. A major element of this will be the construction of many additional hotels to extend and diversify the emirate's existing range of accommodation options.
