Staged at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, the launch brought to life GMC's professional grade theme, which inspired every aspect of the event, from décor and dinner to smashing entertainment. The halls at the convention center looked like attribute to the GMC brand, and its rich heritage both globally and regionally, with a glimpse of its past, present, and future.

Both journalists and dealers had a chance to put the Acadia and Sierra through their paces during a drive on the scenic routes of the UAE, from Dubai to Ras Al-Khaimah, and a glamorous gala dinner featuring a live performance by musical prodigy, Jihad Akel, was the perfect ending to such a superb driving experience.

On his first visit to the region, special guest, Bob Lutz, General Motors Vice Chairman of Product Development updated guests on the state of GM's global business, outlining the benefits of the global product development that is currently adopted.

'Our organization's emphasis is design, because as I always say, these days, design is the key differentiator between your products and the other guys. GM today has global product design, development and manufacturing capabilities, and the common goal of all this is to have the best vehicles in every segment,' said Lutz.

Perhaps the latest embodiment of Lutz's words is the GMC's latest entry into the mid-size SUV segment, with its athletic styling that underscores the professional grade philosophy. The Acadia's sleek and aerodynamic, with a sporty, and tapered roof line, leave it looking like a well-trained athlete in a body-suit. Excellence in design is also extended to the Acadia 's interior, reflecting style and refinement.

GM's emphasis on design can really be sensed when looking at a Sierra, whose design reflects a strong and refined appearance, including muscular character lines and rounded edges, introducing refinement to a segment not traditionally known for it.

Terry Johnsson, Managing Director for General Motors in the Middle East, said: 'The past couple of days have been fantastic. The 2007 Acadia and Sierra reinforce that the GMC brand is all about exceeding expectations. GMC has long been a trusted brand in the Middle East and our customers are drawn to the precision, power and capabilities of what the brand offers. And now, the line-up is expanding to offer more professional grade vehicles to suit everyday demanding lifestyles.'

The all-new Acadia is the pinnacle of practicality and versatility, offering comfortable seating for up to eight passengers and plenty of room for cargo. It is powered by GM's 3.6L V-6 with variable valve timing (VVT), pumping out 301 horsepower and 338.9Nm. The engine is coupled with a new Hydra-Matic 6T75 six-speed automatic transmission, providing both power and a smooth, driver oriented ride.

GMC Sierra is offered with three cab styles, three cargo box lengths and several specially tuned suspensions, and is a trusted choice for customers. All have distinct identities, including brand-exclusive sheet metal and design cues yet share fundamental traits that support segment-leading capability, quality and performance. The Sierra is powered by the fourth generation of the legendary small-block V-8 engine family, consisting of an iron block 4.8L unit, and an iron or aluminum block 5.3L unit.
