DTCM to launch summer promotion for GCC visitors

The Dubai Summer Promotion 2007 will run from June 15 to August 31.
The promotion offers several valued-added benefits like child free stay, free transfers to and from Dubai airport and free breakfast. The benefits offered to the guests differ depending on the category of hotels and hotel apartments.
The promotion is valid for the nationals and residents of AGCC states of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman as well as the UAE.
The DTCM Director General, Mr. Khalid A bin Sulayem, said the summer promotion was being done in cooperation with the hotels, hotel apartments and tour operators who have shown their keenness in promoting the emirate in the Arabian Gulf region to tap the extended summer vacation.
He said the promotion was expected to provide a shot in the arm to the UAE's economy and tourism industry in general and Dubai in particular.
This year's summer promotion has been worked out during a series of meetings with the hotel industry representatives to review the market trends and ways to enhance number of visitors to Dubai.
The DTCM has formed Dubai GCC Summer Promotion 2007 Promotion working team comprising of Mr. Ahmed Al Tunaiji, DTCM Manager Media and Advertising, Director of DTCM's Representative Office for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and representatives of renowned hotel chains, Starwood, Accor, Hyatt, Jumeirah and Rotana.
Mr. bin Sulayem said the promotion was designed to capture a large share of the tourism market through its element of family holiday packages. The promotion supports the tourism industry and forms part of the department's continuous efforts to further popularize Dubai in overseas markets, he added.
The department, with the support of other government organizations, hotel establishments and tour operators, has been aggressively promoting the annual shopping cum recreational extravaganza, Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS-2007), in the AGCC member-states.
Mr. bin Sulayem said the occupancy levels of Dubai hotel establishments and business volumes of participating tourism companies was expected to get a big boost with the summer promotion.
