AD to launch satellite

Abu Dhabi's Mubadala Development Company is to launch its first satellite in 2009 and will give the project's $1bn contract to one of two un-named European or US based companies, reported Reuters. Mubadala's COO, Waleed Al Mokarrab Al Muhairi, said the 'hybrid military and communications satellite' would be launched in Q2 of 2009 and its coverage would include Africa and Central Asia.
