GE Healthcare had unveiled modern diagnostic solutions and technologies at Arab Health 2007, the region's premier health sector expo.
The MoU will support United Medical's expansion plans for its Allied Diagnostic Centres in the region. United Medical already has established centres in Dubai and at Muscat Private Hospital, Sultanate of Oman.
'GE reiterates its 'Healthcare Re-imagined' approach with our latest range of diagnostic solutions and technologies. These encourage healthcare providers and the public to shift their focus from late disease detection to early health, which presents many more treatment options,' said Mr Isam Moursy, General Manager at GE Healthcare for the MEACAT region. 'United Medical has the same operational philosophy and our partnership will further strengthen the focus on early disease detection and prevention.'
'Our partnership with GE Healthcare, the leading providers of imaging technology, will provide Allied Diagnostic Centres with the capability to address the growing need to focus on the increased demand for early detection of ill-health in the population,' said Mr Peter Blackburn, COO of United Medical.
'Clinical success rates in treating conditions, which just a few years ago gave very poor prognosis for sufferers, depend on early detection, and we have demonstrated our commitment to remaining at the forefront of healthcare diagnostics for the benefit of patients by entering into this agreement.'
Allied Diagnostics has plans to open a new centre in Sharjah and second centre in Muscat, this year. These new centres will be equipped with the latest CT, 1.5T MRI and Ultrasound scanners from GE that will provide a wide range of specialised imaging diagnostics for clinicians, thus bringing significant benefit to an increasing number of patients. An additional 10 Allied Diagnostic centres are planned to be opened in GCC countries.
