ISSAF conferences are rapidly growing information security conventions, and spreading all over the globe. They are free and open events organized by the OISSG to raise the level of information security awareness and to teach advanced security practices developed. It is an effort to bring individual local talent and make the most of it within the IT security community.

After conducting IT Security Conferences in Madrid, Barcelona, Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam, Vancouver, Boston, NYC, Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, Doha, and Muscat, OISSG was back again in Dubai.

One of the objectives of the conference at AUD was to organize vendor neutral free conferences to discuss various aspects of IT security.

"Network application integrated with wireless technology becomes a crucial part for operating most businesses successfully. Protecting these networks against attacks, and preserving the integrity of business information would require a proper network security setup. Attending security conferences such as the one organized by OSSIG and AUD would make the security awareness program for organization very fruitful," said Dr Ghassan Kbar, Associate Professor of IT and ISSAF Security Conference Organizer.

"The IT industry in the region has reached a maturity level that requires careful and serious attention to the security aspect. The IT Department at the AUD understands its role as a major provider of IT education and is pleased to bring this event to Dubai," added Dr. Khalid Khawaja, Chair of IT Department at the AUD.

Mr. Balwant Rathore, President OISSG United Kingdom, and key note speaker, highlighted the importance of open source, and OISSG's open source IT Security efforts. His presentation, under the title, "Watch the Hacker in Action," also focused on "how enterprises can watch hacker's tools, techniques, motives and how to protect against data theft in a practical manner."

"Attackers are continuing to improve the strength of their tools and techniques. The individual hacking tools of yesterday have given way to automated exploit framework. Backdoor has evolved as highly stealth tools that manipulate the very hearts of operating systems," said Mr Rathore.

AUD and OSSIG are planning to offer regular security conferences every month to explore different security topics that are relevant to business managers, technical mangers, developers, network administrators, and university students.

OISSG is also starting its local chapter where security enthusiasts can come together to share and build their knowledge for free.
